How do I stop boots smelling?
By Country Walking magazine
Fragrant boots can be a problem for anyone who puts in the miles. First up, reduce sweat by wearing the coolest socks for the conditions - save the inch-thick fluffy ones for snow only. Secondly, always air your boots after your walk - drag them out of their boot bag and remove the insole for maximum freshness. It's particularly important when they've got soggy, as wet material soon gets whiffy, and reproof them when dry to stop them getting damp again.Thirdly, if you've got wet, take the chance to swill the inside of your boots out with water to rinse away any build-up of sweat - just splosh some in, swirl it round, tip it out and dry thoroughly.Fourthly, try Odor Eaters or foot powder or odour-control insoles. And asking around the Country Walking office, it seems everyone has a pet remedy, with suggestions of baking soda, lumps of charcoal, or tumble-dryer fabric-softener sheets in your boots.

Best thing to do is by some foot powder. Powder your feet before you put your socks on and again when you stop half way through your walk. This will also help reduce the chance of foot fungie, which contribute to smell feet and boots.

wash your boots each time you use them (and reproof if needed). every fourth / fifth time they get washed rinse the inside with some warm water and just two drops of nikwax / grangers wash and rinse well - i also wash the insoles the same way every once in a while. you can get stuff to go in your boots to deoderise them but be careful you do not allow it to build up as this could smell itself. also make sure you wear good socks that let your feet breath, and lastly if you get a chance at lunch time give your feet an airing and always change your socks at lunch break so you get to wear two pairs a day. i hope this helps you and good luck with the walking.

I''m looking for a decent flask. I've tried several but they're not keeping warm for long even after pre-warming. I'm going om MT winter skills course in 5 weeks so need to get something good for then.
