I'm wondering whether there are any special rules to be observed when walking through golf courses. Should I stop and wait whilst shots are being played, and would golfers cry 'FORE' if I'm about to be hit by a stray ball?

Neil Porteus, club manager of Canwick Park Golf Club, near Lincoln, which has a public footpath running through the middle says: "Everyone's got a degree of responsibility to make sure everyone's safe. A golfer will shout 'Fore' if they see that their shot could be a danger to someone else on the course."Walkers should look both ways at all times and should wait if they see someone about to take a shot, because the golfer will be looking down at the ball and may not see you. The likelihood of them not seeing you is increased if they're playing on their own. Once you've seen that the ball's landed out of harm's way then it's safe to cross."There are no definitive answers but so long as common sense is used by both parties everyone should be safe - golfers should be able to enjoy their game and walkers should be able to enjoy their walk."

Have a good look round first, make sure you know where the path is and is going, head down and hope for the best.

As advice from BF before. I play Golf and Walk and usually there is no conflict but be aware, Golfers do not have as much control over the direction of the shots as they would like and they may not see you until too late.Even with a call it is difficult to see a golf ball coming at you. I know only too well,as I have been laid out when hit on the side of the head with one. If you can see the tee or the golfers, I would recommend you wait a few seconds until after they have hit the ball before you cross fairways etc-avoids annoying them and more importantly is a lot safer for you after the ball has landed.

LOL If you are on a public footpath the golfers are supposed to ensure you are clear before playing but my advice is to determine which way they play before you set foot across teh fairway. Dogs should be kept under close control. No stealing golf balls by you or the dog

I''m looking for a decent flask. I've tried several but they're not keeping warm for long even after pre-warming. I'm going om MT winter skills course in 5 weeks so need to get something good for then.
