I would like to book a walking holiday in early October and as a single male would like to join a group.Where can I find this type of holiday in southern half of Britain and any reviews of these?

Answer

Country Walking magazine

Both HF Holidays and Ramblers Worldwide Holidays offer guided walking trips all over the UK (and the world if you're desperate for some sunshine), including southern Britain's most scenic spots. Choose between the Cotswolds, the Sussex Downs, the Cornish coast, the Isle of Wight, Dartmoor....

Alternatively, if you have a clear idea of where you'd like to go, it's well worth checking out some of the smaller operators who cover a specific region - the classified advertising section in Country Walking is a mine of information -or give the local tourist info a call.

Reviews of different companies are trickier to find - your best bet is to make a shortlist by destination and price, then ask on the LFTO forums for feedback to help you decide. And when you get back, let us know what you thought!
