I am taking a party up to the Berwyn Mountains this summer and I wonder if anyone has camped in the Llandrillo area and what were the pub(s) like for meals etc?

The town of Llandrillo was once home to seven pubs, but only one remains – The Dudley Arms Hotel (site under construction). Unfortunately, nobody from the LFTO team has been so we can't comment - let us know what you think!
Further afield, The Hand at Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog scores an entry in the Good Pub Guide, and rightly so – it’s a friendly hostelry tucked in the beautiful Ceiriog valley, offering reasonably priced pub meals and a daily-changing dinner menu. The downside? It’s a drive round the Berwyns (or a long walk over them) from Llandrillo.
Also renowned for great food is the Corn Mill in Llangollen – it’s Wales Dining Pub of the Year 2008 and one look at the menu shows you why – slow roast duck leg with red cabbage and cranberries? Toffee bananas on toasted bara brith with coconut ice-cream? It’s a beautiful spot too – especially on a spring or summer evening when you can sit on the balcony watching the river race beneath you, with the hills rising beyond.
And a final recommendation from Steve Goodier, a Country Walking contributor for North Wales – the White Lion in Bala. It’s a bustling town centre pub teeming with history, complete with settles and an inglenook fireplace – just in case those spring evenings aren’t quite as warm as you were hoping.
