Can I find scrambling routes from maps?
By Anonymous
Maps only get you so far with scrambling. It’s wise to buy a scrambling guidebook. This will give you the grades of the main scrambling routes in a given area, as well as a description of their difficulty. They will also advise you on exactly which line of assault is easiest up a rock face, and will warn you of any potential dangers. To be super-safe buy two for the same area, so you can cross-reference the grade of a particular route. We used Scrambles and Easy Climbs in Snowdonia, pb Grey Stone Books, and Scrambles in Snowdonia, pb Cicerone.
