I want to shift some extra pounds round my waist. How do I do it?

Here’s how to boost your metabolism during the day to shift weight quickly and effectively, according to personal trainer Tommy Matthews.

6.45am  Begin the day with something small like a piece of fruit to give your metabolism a kick-start in the morning.
6.55 Walk up and down the stairs three times to get you warmed up.
7.00 Then walk up and down the stairs three times but this time doing 10 squats every time you get to the top.
7.10 Then walk up and down the stairs three times and this time do 10 press-ups every time you reach the top.
7.15 Finish off your session by running up and down the stairs three times.
7.40 Have a decent breakfast before you leave the house.
8.40 Aim to get off the bus or train one stop earlier and walk the rest of the way to work.
12.30 Walk or run up the stairs at lunch – don’t take the lift.
