How fast should I eat on a walk?

You can lose weight by eating more slowly with help from a talking computer say researchers from the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. The Mandometer chides you if you eat too fast and asks, “Are you still hungry?” if it thinks you’re on the way to being a bloater. One 133kg volunteer shed nearly 20% of his bulk using this computer, connected to scales and a food plate, which measured how quickly he ate. Nutrition scientist Dr Joanne Lunn says, “This is based on the principle that if you eat too fast, your brain does not receive the right feedback signals from your stomach to tell you that you are full. When walking however, you might not have time to eat slowly, say in bad weather or on non-stop endurance walks, so here it is more important to make sure you eat the right kinds of slow- and fast-release carbs to power you along. Bananas, potatoes, wholemeal bread are all slow-release carbs great for snacks and lunches. Sweets, like fruit gums and mints all provide a quick energy boost if you are flagging.”
