Adding strength training to your weekly fitness regime can increase the rate at which your body burns fat by up to 30%. For most walkers, cardiovascular fitness is a priority, but by focusing on resistance training that targets the legs and upper body you can increase calorie burning and decrease the risk of injuries. You should aim for two or three strength training sessions of around 30 minutes each week.
