What's the best way to make my hands harder and protect them while bouldering?
By Trail magazine
“To be honest the only way of hardening your hands is to get out there as much as you can and get your hands on real rock,” says Trail’s mountaineering editor Jeremy Ashcroft. “If you want to progress into more technical climbs and high level scrambles, bouldering is certainly a great way of upping your technique. But unfortunately there’s no easy way of getting your hands harder quickly – quite simply the more you get out there and do it, the easier it will be.”

I have found that use of indoor walls help hands just develop hard skin and if im honest i have quite soft skin even with the hard skin areas, just keep at it and you will get used to it

instead of getting hard skin why not use Climb On bar after a session - it really helps your hands and skin recover after a climb. Its wonderful stuff and means that you can keep climbing. Or just climb lots!

I found heavy weights did mine - gripping a barbell and the handles for chin-ups and stuff like that. Hurts my hands but the calluses aren't as bad as they used to be (although switching to Ecover instead of Fairy washing up liquid helps because it doesn't eat the skin on my hands lol). It does take time, though, so be patient.

Can I use C1 Crampons with my Meindl Vakuums? Or are they too flexible?
