I’ve just started bouldering. What are some crags I can visit to find lots of easy routes?

Peak District: Burbage
British Mountaineering Council press officer Tina Gardner says, “This is a really good place for easy-grade bouldering, with good landings and a huge number of low-level problems.”

Cumbria: St Bees Head, near Whitehaven
“There’s a huge selection of routes right across the grades,” says Trail’s rock maestro Jeremy Ashcroft.

Pennines: Lancashire Brownstones, near Bolton
Jeremy says, “There loads of routes here in an old gritstone quarry.”

Scotland: Applecross, Torridonian sandstone
According to Jeremy, “A number of sites in the area near Russell Burn on Loch Kishorn offer a fantastic introduction to bouldering,”

North Wales
“Snowdonia sites are generally very busy. Cwm Dyli near the hydro pipeline from Llyn Llydaw below Y Lliwedd offers one of the quieter spots with a pleasant mountain atmosphere,” recommends Jeremy.

The Roaches inbetween Leek and Buxton in the Peak District aint too bad, youve just gotta look around, as there's more actual climbing then bouldering.

Over the back from Farleton (see Sleepless's suggestion) is Hutton Roof - another prime limestone spot. Some idea of your location in the UK would help?

Farleton Crag Nr Holme Just nestled next to M6 Jct 36.  Summer evenings show sunsets over Morecambe bay to take the breath away. Its a great vantage pont to take in all 3 counties. The limestone bouldering cliff nicely warmed by the days sun, the sheep mown grass slope providing a comfy fall mat.

A true gem.

Holme, at its foot, has a good pub to help sooth those pumped arms.
