My hubby and myself returned from Chamonix on 6th of July after summiting Mont Blanc on 1st of July. We had no affects at altitude on the climb as we had spent a number of hours including overnight stop at the Cosmiques Hut to acclimatize. My question is we are returning to Chamonix on the 21st August and hope to attempt a 2nd climb up Mont Blanc & would like to know how long the effects of the acclimatization we have done will benefit us. Simon Currin, GP and Expedition leader for Medex says: “Unfortunately the physiological changes that happen during acclimatisation disappear very quickly on return to sea level and after six weeks you are unlikely to have any residual benefit.”MD of Expedition company Jagged Globe, Simon Lowe says: “Some people will always acclimatise better than others but fitter people with a more efficient aerobic system, generally find it easier to cope with the lack of oxygen as altitude increases.”

Thanks for that guys - was hoping to avoid going back out the ice cave on the Aigille du Midi to get to the Cosmiques hut for acclimatizing!!. Never mind has to be done now! Thanks again.

Can I use C1 Crampons with my Meindl Vakuums? Or are they too flexible?
