Any good suggestions for ready meals when backpacking? I want something quick to heat up, inexpensive and lightweight.

What to eat is crucial when backpacking - weight and cost can soon stack up. Click here for Country Walking's latest test of meals on the go, from Pot-Noodle to Wayfarer.

Ainsley Harriot cous cous is amazing - the easiest thing to make and tasty too mmmmmmmmmmmm!

I'm sure other makes are available and just as tasty.

I used Look What We Found for the first time the other week in the Lakes, bought online from their website. Cheaper than Wayfarers & much tastier in my opinion.

I'm with Steve D on the pasta and sauce choice, beats any of the dried ready meals. I know they have improved a little over the years, but I like to know what I'm eating. The choice of pesto etc is good, and just put enough of different ones into small pots but make sure you put them in a plastic bag, if they leak, (which I have experience) it's horrid. Also parmesan is great- light to carry if you dont take the whole pot, and tasty, whilst giving you some protein and fat.

www.lookwhatwefound.co.uk/ They are realatively cheap, available in most supermarkets and taste a lot better than dehydrated food!
